Gold and Silver
History and stories about our Loisach

Life in and around our Loisach tends to revolve around the mountains and sport – the great outdoors beckons in both the summer and the winter. We are keen to share the outdoor feeling with our guests.
Josef Josl Rieder
In the 1950s, Josl Rieder was one of the leading lights in the international skiing scene. Although he was a late starter in the world of competitive skiing, he was very successful at both the competitive level and as a trainer. The crowning glory of his career were the two silver and one gold medal that he won at the 1958 World Championships in Bad Gastein.
A lot of time has gone by since then, but the sport has stayed here throughout.

From the sport hotel to our Loisach
Your hosts, Karl and Hillo Rieder, very much enjoy the outdoor lifestyle as well. In contrast to times gone by, however, these days, things tend to be far less austere and much more comfortable. In addition to the numerous sports activities and attractions, the Loisach can offer everything that belongs with a relaxing holiday at the Zugspitze, panoramic views inclusive. And if there's one thing you won't stop Karl Rieder from doing, it's joining his guests on the mountains on bike or on foot as often as he can and showing them his favourite places and the best Alpine views.
